    Yes, it is true that power rangers is adapted from super sentai. But super sentai is not the first power rangers. Spiderman is the first power ranger. Because super sentai is adapted from Supaidaman, which was a Japanese tv serial. And Supaidaman is adapted from Spiderman of marvel comics.

    Godzilla is symbolism of past mistake and present redemption however Ultraman is symbolism of enlightenment hope and everlasting dreams and also Ultraman is symbolism of courage, bravery, morality, respect, redemption, friendship, family, relationship, love, and sacrifice as we know many ultras in the series are symbolize like ultraman tiga in the past tiga who was become giant of light because of following yuzure's words geed had determine to change the destiny because of his father ultraman belial ultraman trigger his love to carmeara never betrayed but why trigger betrayed the giants of darkness why because of light and light is warm and harmless and for russo and blues brothers the love of their sister is equivalent to protect their sister at end in pre ultraman R/B series father of ultra and mother of ultra wanted to make their son taro to grew up as a good person that's why the meaning of ultraman a family a friendship and all good virtues to achieve because I'm a Filipino fan of ultraman godzilla and Kamen rider thank you eiji tsuburaya and thank you toei company

    Ritual is such a beautiful and engrossing film. I wish more people talked about it. I had been an Eva fan for years and decided to check it out on a whim. Halfway through I started crying. Every day she woke up standing at the edge, wondering if she wanted to die that day.. Only to go back to her avant-garde world of escapism. The film feels for so much of its runtime and quiet grief, how cannot in many ways express herself in words, only through the images she created around her, only for her finally able to speak and find some place in reality in the end.

    so it may have been different in the version you watched, but in the netflix version ken and his fathers history is more fleshed out. Ken explains that his father wasn't around very much because he had to be ultraman, and also when ken and his mother left japan, Ken's father stayed behind giving ken the impression that Ken's father had chosen monsters over his family. also Ken felt that the job of being ultraman was forced onto him by his father robbing him of a normal life

    A few points..... (great clickbait title, though,.,ya got me).... 1. I am kinda tired of tokusatsu quality being undersold, always being compared to Hollywood. IMO, Hollywood is not so great and we don't need to even do the comparisons. It's not about budgets, SF techniques etc despite everyone's insistence on that. It's about imagination, willingness to experiment and specifically, willingness to put ideas on the screen REGARDLESS OF BUDGET. These are many of strengths toku has always had. It's why most Hollywood scifi and monster movies hardly showed you anything back in the day except for maybe the last 5 minutes. Toku has always been upfront with its spectacle. 2. Toku is main format in Japan, just as much as is anime. Of course, it's always going to evolve. 3. The only real threat to toku, IMO, is Hollywood (and then, Disney, by extension) I really DO understand why so many in the West praise toku for being 'adapted' to the West (like in power rangers, monsterverse, ultraman rising, etc) because it beings in new fans. BUT I say the brand dilution is never worth it. Toho, Toei, Tsuburaya, etc can go for the quick money (I dont blame them in most ways) but they risk losing brand identity. And that identity is what makes them unique to start with. And before anyone scoffs, as much a foundation of toku as Godzilla is.....Ultraman is even more THE toku icon worldwide. Watching Ultraman getting 'Americanised' is is truly bad situation. Toku will thrive when it stays Japanese.

      This really comes off like a weeb or a Japanese nationalist wrote this. 1. I find it hilarious how some believe people believe Japanese studios actually have artistic integrity. Even in Japan without anyone else involved, Toho watered down Godzilla into a puppy faced hero, Kamen Rider is a gimmicky hero and Sentai isn’t different. Beyond all that? Japanese cinema had been held back by their stubborn insistence to cling to the past. As for television? They’re held back by the toy companies making their series loaded with gimmicks and watering them down on their own, as well as clinging to the past. 2. Okay…. 3. All of those companies diluted their own brands long before and without the West’s doing as I explained above. TsuPro hasn’t been able to afford anything much and without Toho selling the license to Godzilla to Legendary? Minus One and the Shin series wouldn’t exist. Period. Let alone all the mainstream media that had been created since then.

      @@ByTheStormLove how you immediately open up by calling the person a "nationalist". Is that your go-to buzzword or something? Kamen Rider is a gimmicky hero...as virtually all other franchises aimed at children are. It's no different than something like Transformers or Hot Wheels being "gimmicky"-they are aimed at kids and want to sell kids cool toys. That still does not subtract from the creativity and quality found in these shows a majority of the time. It just feels weird to act like this is something exclusive to Toei Tokusatsu shows. The person had a point about Tokusatsu shows being imaginative and creative in spite of their limited budget when compared to bigger studios like Hollywood. That's not being a "weeb" or "nationalist", it's just stating facts. Seems that you have the false impression that merely liking any Japanese media makes one a weaboo. Are you really just trying to "other" people you don't agree with? Because that's what it sounds like to me.

    Hey Titangoji I was wondering as to what are your thoughts on the hole "reject American comics and embrace Japanese manga" mentality as well I do see some very valid reasonings behind but the way people describe it (such as what you read) just comes across as very narrow minded and just feels like they're just talking about the big comic publishers whether then the big landscape of comic books especially indie ones

    • @ByTheStorm
      @ByTheStorm 8 днів тому

      I’m obviously not him, but I believe that view comes from a few factors. For me at least? 1. American comics are scams. They’re neverending soap operas that lack definitive finite arcs in a single comic line. And they repeat the same exact stories. The events and constant reboots just make getting engaged pointless. But we’re know why because the big two con their writers into predatory deals where they’re forced to go into GoFundMe and beg for money. I don’t intend on supporting such parasites. 2. They’re solely geared towards older generations of dying fans instead of the mainstream. They’re basically professional fanfiction that largely lacks the spirit of the writers who created them because the big two have creative incest. This is even an issue in Japan where instead of using lived experiences to inform their writing, they’re more like AI, just repeating what happened before. I haven’t really touched any modern comic since the mid 2000s because they alienated successive generations of people from their stories. And the ones that were ,were watered down and baby like. Pick one up from like Titans and it was smut. Not an adult label. The main DC label. And if you’re starting in the middle of an arc, you’re screwed unless you are the type to look everything up or buy previous issues. For someone expecting something similar to the show, it’s like a middle finger. 3. Indie comics and their publishers aren’t as well known to the public. 4. The issue buying nonsense makes them overpriced versus collected volumes. But because of the first issue? I got tired of even doing that because they’re costly. Unless it’s something like Batman: Year One where it’s standalone and in its own thing? It just isn’t worth it devise the big two made it inaccessible. 5. Manga volumes are far more accessible to the average person than American comics. They can be found everywhere. American comics are strangled in contrast to comic stores. 6. Manga have a higher amount of diversity to their stories that’s well known which simultaneously don’t skate by serious issues while being accessible to everyone. Not just hardcore fans.

    IMO it just didn’t make sense to me. I will say that my kids loved it! The visuals are incredible and the colors really popped. BUT I just couldn’t get around a few things. Kaiju are bad? Right? They destroy cities and towns and people die. The “villain” was very ….. likable honestly I felt more for him and his story than I did with the two main characters. The original Ultraman fought them his whole life seemingly but he also loves them? Idk 🤷🏾‍♂️

      @Soleyboi 11 днів тому

      Spoilers ahead: Kaiju are only bad because they’re in an unfamiliar environment they’re more animal than you think. For gigantrons case in this movie, they were just defending emi (the baby kaiju) from the humans in which in the end when ultraman fought mecha gigantron, gigantron noticed him embracing emi and taking care of her so saw him as a non threat and helped him fight the scientist. Speaking of, i agree with you about feeling for him rather than hating him. I truly didn’t want him to die but to be fair that’s the path he chose, he is a broken man without his family and would rather die then to continue to suffer living being reminded that his family is dead.

    Godzilla vs King Ghidorah is a bunch of poppycock, but it's glorious poppycock. I love the movie despite how cheesy it is and how little sense the plot makes overall. There's an earnest-ness to the film and it's clearly an effort of love despite being totally ridiculous. Also, while some of the composite shots are meh, it has some of the best suit work and model work of the whole series IMO. Both fights with KG are just awesome, and the shot of Goji toppling the radio tower while the tanks are all shooting him is iconic. For me, the early Heisei movies are much better than the later ones. 84, Bio, KG, and Mothra are all some of my fav Goji films, while Mecha, Space, and Destoroyah were a bit of a let down for me. Of those three I liked the ideas behind Space Godzilla the best, but they somehow managed to make a 45 minute long Kaiju duel kinda boring.

    I enjoyed it. I got my own mini kaiju (my dog, Maisey) to take care of a year and a half ago, so it hit a little different than it would have otherwise. My main criticism would be the lack of lore and the way the second montage skipped over some character development. We don't know how the Ultra powers work here. Are they merged with an ultra? Are they part alien themselves? Never explained. They just ARE Ultramen. And we get like one part of a montage showing him taking a mentoring role in his baseball team and all of sudden he's fully integrated into it. You could tell it wasn't originally meant to be an Ultraman movie, but it was engaging and entertaining throughout, and quite emotional at times. Plus I'm a sucker for an Ultraman that's sympathetic to kaijus, Cosmos is my favourite series. So for all it's flaws I'm quite hyped for a sequel.

    The video is pretty good at explaining some of the history of Tokusatsu but I felt you should have talked more about the influence of Kamen Rider Kuuga and Ultraman Tiga because they are very significant entries to Tokusatsu's sub category called "Henshin Hero" series, and I think even Jetman should also be more mentioned because it helped grow the Super Sentai series from stagnation. Generally, it should also be more important to talk about the significance of Kamen Rider Den-O, W, and OOO because their toy sales are ranked the highest toy sales in the entire Kamen Rider Franchise. With Ultraman, I felt the massive success of Ultraman Zett and the improved action set pieces and cinematography of Ultraman Trigger up to Blazar should be mentioned as it shows the most improved works of its VFX and CGI line that blends well with its practical effects. Super Sentai did the same with King-Ohger as the virtual technology is made to combine suit acting with virtual backgrounds to create a fantasy like world which is a big deal in Super Sentai history. But what I like to disagree the most with the video is the use of practical effects and suit acting as a necessity. In my opinion, it is not out of necessity but rather it is traditional and part of the soul and nature of what makes a Henshin Hero show. The makers loved to work on practical effects and suit acting because they loved it, feel passionate about it, and gives the most real and authenticity that cannot be replicated well with CGI. Most or almost no one (I might be wrong) in the Tokusatsu industry and fanbase wants suit action and practical effects shown in Tokusatsu franchises to be gone or else it's not a Henshin Hero franchise

    I hope im not the only one with this opinion but i gotta be honest. The "shin" triology is garbage. Shin godzilla wasnt good, it was just conveluted, shin ultraman was okay but it was just meh. And shin kamen rider was absolute garbage, bad acting, bad cinematography, bad directing and the script was so hacked up it shouldnt have been made. I know i know, im probably alone in this but thats just how i feel.

    Watched it not long ago, great movie! Dug all the great little references throughout the film, but ine I definitely didn't expect was a power rangers/super sentai reference. Several times throughout the film, you catch sight of a figure that clearly is based on the dino thunder/Abaranger megazord, with the rex tail drill arm and everything, absolutely loved that one

    At the end of the day what matters is that the movies/series we get are good. And what we got was the Shin movie series and Godzilla Minus One. I rest my case.

    Y’know. I think I agree, Tokusatsu isn’t dying…it’s evolving.
